Abstract

This review article explores the potential of artificial intelligence (AI)-based platforms to promote autonomous English language learning at the high school level in Ecuador and its projection into higher education. Through an exhaustive review of the existing literature, the advantages, challenges, and opportunities offered by these technological tools in the Ecuadorian educational context were analyzed. The methodology employed consisted of a systematic and qualitative review of scientific articles indexed in specialized databases. The results obtained reveal that AI platforms can personalize learning, increase motivation, and improve students' language performance. However, challenges related to content quality, technological accessibility, and the need for adequate teacher training were identified. It is concluded that AI platforms represent a promising tool for teaching English in Ecuador, but their implementation must be accompanied by solid pedagogical strategies and personalized teacher support.
