Abstract

Human rights are important for all communities, but they are especially significant for indigenous communities, where indigenous peoples have long suffered discrimination and lack of constitutional rights in the different countries of the world where a particular group or culture exists. The objective of this article is to identify the constitutional rights of indigenous peoples. This research was developed with a descriptive bibliographical approach of an analytical nature based on a literature review. As a result, it is possible that, based on the struggle of international and national organizations, constitutional rights are promoted in Ecuador for indigenous peoples, supported by the Carta Maga in force in 2008. As a conclusion, in Ecuador there are laws in force that protect the rights of indigenous peoples, by establishing that the country is plurinational and pluricultural, where it establishes that all Ecuadorians enjoy the same constitutional rights and duties. At this time, indigenous people are recognized as a people with their own nature, ethnicity and traits in any part of the country, they enjoy the same benefits and the same obligations as any Ecuadorian person.
