This research aims to examine the effectiveness of Project-Based Learning (PBL) in teaching Social Sciences, focusing on the development of civic and citizenship competencies among students. Through a methodology that combines practical research with group work, active and meaningful learning is promoted, connecting theoretical learning with social reality. The implementation of PBL was carried out with 32 students from the Emilio Uzcátegui school in the city of Quito, using digital tools and multimedia resources to enrich the learning experience. The results showed an increase in academic performance and the acquisition of citizenship skills, such as critical thinking and the ability to propose solutions to social problems. Additionally, the use of educational technologies increased student motivation and participation, creating a dynamic and collaborative learning environment. However, the study also identified limitations, such as the small sample size and the need for diverse educational contexts to validate the findings. It is concluded that PBL is an effective methodology for preparing students as engaged citizens, and its integration into educational practices is recommended, as well as future research to expand understanding of its impact in different contexts. This approach not only transforms the teaching of Social Sciences but also promotes active and responsible citizenship in an interconnected world.
