Abstract

This study aimed to evaluate the impact of early interventions based on the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) approach on the development of cognitive, socio-emotional, and communicative skills in children with special educational needs, specifically Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), attending the Mundo Mágico Early Childhood Center in Ecuador. Through a quasi-experimental design, a group of children who received ABA intervention was compared to a control group. Results showed significant improvements in communicative skills in the experimental group, supporting the efficacy of ABA in this area. However, no significant differences were observed in other developmental areas. The study's limitations are discussed, and future research directions are proposed. This study highlights the importance of early and individualized interventions to optimize the development of children with ASD in the Ecuadorian context, as well as the need for continued research on the effectiveness of ABA in different populations and settings.
