Abstract

Gymnastics is a sport characterized by a range of striking and complex movements. Within this discipline, the round-off is considered a medium-difficulty acrobatic element. Therefore, the main objective of this study is to perform a biomechanical analysis of the execution angles of the round-off in each of its phases, considering potential technical improvements and injury prevention. To meet this objective, a quasi-experimental study with a descriptive approach was conducted. The theoretical research focused on reliable databases and academic search engines such as Dialnet, Scielo, Scopus, Redalyc, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. To refine the information collection process, Boolean operators such as “AND” and “OR,” along with the concatenation operator “+,” were applied. Similarly, the biomechanical analysis was carried out using the Kinovea software, which served as the primary analysis tool. The results obtained clearly describe the correct execution of each phase of the mentioned acrobatic element. Furthermore, this study is left as a theoretical-literary basis to promote future research in the sports field, highlighting biomechanical factors as key considerations for optimizing the technical gesture.
