Parasitosis is a disease that affects the small and large intestine, in addition to becoming a public health problem that significantly attacks the child population, especially in groups with socioeconomic conditions and limited access to health services.
In Ecuador, parasitosis is particularly prevalent among preschool and school-aged children, which negatively impacts their physical and cognitive development. The high incidence of parasitosis in vulnerable areas, where the practice of hygiene and the neglect of their parents are the main cause of it, requires the establishment of intervention strategies that address the treatment and education for the prevention of these diseases such as parasitosis.
The Dorothea Orem Self-Care Model is widely valued in nursing practice, providing a solid theoretical framework that promotes improving health care by developing the ability to self-care in individuals. This model places particular emphasis on education and the promotion of healthy habits, considering them essential for the prevention of this disease.
