Abstract

Natural disasters today are becoming more serious and constant, both in poor and rich nations, leaving significant losses of life and infrastructure. Therefore, through this study, we seek to establish and identify early warning systems, which are fundamental for reducing risks in the face of disasters, also facilitating preventive action measures to minimize negative consequences. An effective early warning system is an important element within the sectors located in high-risk areas, since it allows the detection and monitoring of threats. Ecuador, being located in the “Pacific Ring of Fire”, is at constant risk. , thus being a vulnerable country, which is why the government has implemented protocols and monitoring systems through the national risk management service (SGRN). It is important to note that these systems are of vital importance, especially in provinces like Manabí that have a large coastal territory, as is the case of the Crucita parish of the Portoviejo canton. For the development of this research, mixed research will be applied, with data collection techniques such as documentary research, interviews and surveys with a specific population, in order to identify the current conditions of the early warning system in the study sector.
