Ergonomic evaluation and optimization in the bana productivity process at El Palmar farm

The present research was conducted with the goal of improving productivity and occupational health at "El Palmar" farm. To analyze the issues, a survey was conducted among the workers, through which several critical points in the production process that affect both efficiency and worker well-being were identified. These points include posture during cultivation, handling of heavy loads, and the repetitiveness of certain tasks. It is important to identify risk factors to prevent any type of musculoskeletal disorder, injury, or illness. The cultivation activity was analyzed using evaluation methods, for which the RULA method was selected. This method allows for the analysis and assessment of exposure to risks due to poor posture or improper postures of a worker, also analyzing the upper limbs and back, considering that most musculoskeletal disorders can occur in the upper body. To achieve this, the REBA method, an ergonomic tool that helps identify and correct risks associated with postures and repetitive movements in the workplace, was chosen for implementation. Through these two selected methods, several problems were found, such as movements that affect muscles and joints, and the use of inefficient techniques for lifting and transporting loads.
