Radio link didactic module with Mikrotik antennas for the telecommunications and networks laboratory

Abstract

 The radio link educational module with MikroTik antennas was created so that students of the Higher Technology in Electronics of the Tsa`chila Higher Technological Institute can acquire knowledge about the concepts and practical uses of long-distance wireless communications. The methodology used included the choice and configuration of high-gain MikroTik antennas (30 dBi, 5 GHz), such as the mANT30 model, known for its resistance and double polarity. Field tests were conducted to evaluate signal quality, connection stability, and performance under various environmental conditions. The results showed that the antennas offered excellent coverage and low signal loss, even in challenging conditions. Significant improvements were seen in connection stability and available bandwidth compared to lower gain solutions. The conclusions highlighted the effectiveness of the module for practical teaching, underlining the importance of precise alignment of the antennas and the appropriate choice of equipment. Additionally, it is concluded that MikroTik antennas are a viable option for both industrial and educational applications, thanks to their durable design and ability to maintain consistent performance under adverse conditions. This educational module offers a solid foundation for future studies and applications in the field of telecommunications.
