Abstract

The present case report is about a rupture of a grade III meningioma in a 28-year-old male patient with a history of deep vein thrombosis in the lower limbs and acquired thrombophilia in treatment with rivaroxaban, which was related to the rupture, generating an intraparenchymal hemorrhage. Grade III meningiomas are malignant with a prevalence of 3%. Among the risk factors for developing a meningioma we find ionizing radiation, genetic susceptibility, etc. Normally these do not usually present a specific clinical presentation or this will depend on the area of the brain in which the lesion is located, usually the diagnosis is reached when the patient presents deficits or alterations in neurological function suddenly and by means of an angiotomography or angioresonance. Therefore, this case report corroborated the data together with a bibliographic review about meningiomas.
