Abstract

Trigonometry, a branch of mathematics focused on the study of relationships between angles and sides of triangles, has broad and practical applications that are highly relevant to high school students. This article explains how trigonometric principles are used in various aspects of daily life, aiding in solving problems ranging from measuring distances and heights of inaccessible objects to navigation and architectural design. Furthermore, its importance in engineering for structural analysis and design of mechanical systems is highlighted. For example, trigonometry allows students to calculate the height of a building using the angle of elevation or determine the position of a ship using triangulation. In construction, trigonometric concepts are applied to design roofs with the appropriate slope, ensuring both functionality and safety. This article also proposes the integration of practical projects and simulation exercises into the educational program, as well as the use of technological tools, to improve the understanding and application of these concepts in real situations. Thus, the goal is not only to deepen theory, but also to provide students with practical skills to effectively solve real-world problems, thereby promoting more meaningful learning and greater motivation towards trigonometry.
