Abstract

Objective: Identify the teaching and learning strategies that nursing careers use to promote reflective and critical thinking in their students.

Methods: Integrative review of the teaching-learning strategies used by nursing careers to promote reflective and critical thinking in their students. Therefore, a review of two databases PubMed and LILACS BIREME was carried out, using the keywords “reflective thinking” critical thinking” “nursing students” scientific products of the last 5 years. Results: of the 231 articles that the search returned, 11 fit the inclusion criteria. The strategies that stood out were Debriefing, simulation, problem-based learning, debate, reflective learning through mental maps, collaborative work, and even the inclusion of non-traditional methods such as mobile learning, and the Lego Serious play game. All of them highlighting them as effective in increasing student performance in reflective and critical thinking.

Conclusion We cannot leave aside, or try to ignore, current technological advances, even more so in health careers where clinical judgment skills and reflexivity must be formed in the care provided, even more so in a human being who It is unique, and it needs to be seen with the lenses of integrality. It is the teacher's responsibility to prepare nurses for the present and the future.
