Ejecución de Políticas Públicas para Fortalecimiento de la Donación de Órganos y Tejidos en el Ecuador

El trasplante de órganos tiene como propósito preservar, mejorar y ampliar la calidad de vida de las personas, aporta importantes beneficios sociales y económicos, le permiten tener una nueva oportunidad de vida activa y productiva, la falta de donantes provoca escasez en la disponibilidad de órganos que no permite dar solución al problema global. El 22.5% de la población ecuatoriana se niega a ser donantes esta problemática es multifactorial, los aspectos culturales, organizacionales, legales, económicos, comunicacionales y de formación o educacionales inciden en establecer la cultura de donación. El objetivo de este artículo es describir la situación actual de la donación y trasplante en Ecuador, con las políticas y medidas instauradas hasta ahora y establecer los principales desafíos necesarios para instalar una cultura de donación, de acuerdo con las recomendaciones internacionales y a otros programas de mayor éxito. Se realizo una revisión sistemática mediante la búsqueda electrónica sistemática de artículos publicados desde el 2018 hasta julio del 2023 en las bases de datos PubMed, Springer Scielo, ELSEVIER, Google Académico, además de fuentes de información verificadas a nivel internacional como la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS), Organización Panamericana de la Salud (OPS), Ministerio de Salud del Ecuador (MSP). Al considerar que las barreras para donantes son de origen multifactorial se concluye que la promoción activa a través de medios de comunicación, educación en escuelas y colaboración con figuras públicas puede aumentar la participación de la comunidad en la donación de órganos
